How Selfies Sell Homes

It’s no secret that people these days LOVE taking selfies (there’s an entire song dedicated to the act of taking a selfie). We post photos of ourselves on Instagram, we Snapchat funny facial expressions to friends, and we spend hours making sure our Facebook profile picture is as flattering as it can possibly be. But did you ever think that you, yes YOU, could use selfies to sell homes?

Here at Get Community, Inc. we’ve had a lot of success using selfie promos to entice homebuyers to interact with their builders at grand opening events, phase releases, and general community functions. What seem like two unrelated things – selfies and new homes – can actually go hand-in-hand!

For example, at a grand opening event, we may ask attendees to post a selfie while they’re touring the model homes and then post it on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) using a particular hashtag that we’ve predetermined. The idea here is that posting a selfie is a digital form of “word of mouth” that can generate viral interest in your homes.

Some key elements to successful selfie promos for builders include:

~Use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. to promote your selfie contest before the actual event.

~Include supporting signage throughout your model homes so that people are reminded of the contest as they walk through the homes.

~Create a specific hashtag (#LyonHomes, #LyonSkyridge) that you can tailor to fit your event and your brand, that can be searched later.

~Think about doing a giveaway alongside the selfie contest. Including a simple $% Starbucks gift card can do wonders for encouraging people that tour the models to post their selfie in a public forum.

There you have it! If you’ve never considered using selfies to self-promote, it’s not to late! It’s all about using current trends to get your business seen, so don’t be afraid of the “selfie craze.”
